Free feedback
Frequently, our authors are the first external people to see and use our clients' products. And because we make a point of becoming deeply involved with what we are documenting, we can often provide valuable comments and observations concerning matters which might affect real users.

With software, for example, we comment on functions we feel are difficult to understand or use. We point out confusing or ambiguous terminology, and mis-spelt text in menus, dialogues and messages. And, of course, we report any bugs we happen to uncover.

This process is not (normally * ) a formal part of the project. You get the feedback free just because we think it might be useful. Naturally, we always check with new clients that we're not going to cause offence by providing feedback, but nobody has ever refused. Most clients value it and often make changes as a result.

* We do provide aspects of product acceptability assessment as a specific task, where required.
