Telecoms and data switching
Our client is one of the major providers of international news and financial data services, and is also heavily involved in development of advanced voice and data switching networks. Their system is among the most complex products our authors have ever tackled, comprising sophisticated equipment-room and dealing floor systems supporting, on some sites, 200-plus user workstations and accompanied by a range of supporting software packages and subsidiary equipment. Our involvement has continued for 10 years, during which time we have provided documentation for every aspect of installation, configuration, maintenance and use. In fact we also took over responsibility for the documentation library and distributed new releases and updates to users and engineers world-wide.
At one point we even assembled a team who spent a month on-site at a new London installation, providing hands-on training and live-day support for the new users.
Our long-term relationship with this client is typical of the kind we frequently develop and pays dividends in a number of ways, not least of which is that our familiarity with the product, the personnel and the requirement allows us to maintain and update the documentation rapidly and cost-effectively and with the minimum demand on the client.
